January Pack Meeting

This was out last Pack meeting before Dustin would be coming home from his deployment. Jeff is doing really well in Scouts and is well on his way to earning his second rank in Scouting- his Wolf!

The Aquarium of the Americas

Our zoo passes from earlier in the month also included Aquarium admission. We headed back to New Orleans with the Masters again for another animal filled day. This time we headed for the aquarium and had a great time. There were lots and lots of neat creatures to see. There was even a touch tank with Rays in it. Jenna was a total Ray magnet. They kept swimming up to her and flapping their "wings" like crazy. It was so funny. The other funny thing was the parakeet landing. The birds were totally crazy! They were climbing in and out of my purse, dive bombing us, and acting just plain crazy. Jeff and Sulieti did not like it AT ALL! I thought it was so funny!

North Bay Awards Day!

The Douberly kiddos are all doing well in school. Henry and Jeffrey both made the A/B honor roll and Jenna received all 4s (I have no idea how a scale of 4-1 is any different from A-F, but they don't use the A-F scale until 1st grade).

Jeffrey's Third Grade Program

Jeff's program this year was, well, interesting. When we arrived the first thing I noticed was the poster to the left of the stage. Can you see it? It says, "Child of the World". Now, in our religion we teach our children that they are Children of God and that they must rise above the things of this world. When the program began I realized that while the point of the program was good- the message was not in line with what we teach our children. The message of the program was that, as children of the world they have the responsibility to treat others with respect, compassion, and kindness, and honesty. We teach those things as Christ-like principles. Jeff's part was the letter P in respect. With each attribute the children had a little song and examples of ways to show that kind of behavior. Jeff even learned a song about being a "Child of the World". We got to have a really great talk on the way home from the program about being a Child of God and how Christ is the exemplar of all those attributes. It seems sad to me that I have to refute the schools teachings even in 3rd grade. The world is definitely changing!

Two Little Dancers

We were so happy to learn that the base Youth Center was finally offering dance classes! We signed up the minute we found out! We've been waiting three years for this. Local dance companies here are super expensive and we just wanted to give the girls the opportunity to learn and have fun- not choose a career path!! As it turns out, Dance was offered too late in the evening for Kelsey Anne and we've moved her to daytime Tumbling, but Jenna is LOVING her class. Her class has even been asked to perform at an upcoming military child appreciation day. So fun!

The Audubon Zoo with Friends

January 4, 2013
Tita, Sulieti, and the crew!
At one the deployed spouses events on base we scored free Zoo/Aquarium passes. So off we all went to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. It was a beautiful, crisp, winter day in the South (55F!). The kids had a great time seeing all the animals and running all over the place! We LOVE spending time with the Masters!

Life Seems Busier with Dad Home!

So here is it March the 2nd and I have yet to post in 2013. Time is going by so fast these days. I feel like I can barely catch my breath! There is so much to tell you about our year so far. I do not like when I have to play catch up, but I just can't leave anything out....so here goes!
