On Omaha Beach

4-25-14

Camping Above Omaha Beach

4/25/14-4/27/14
70th Anniversary of D-Day BSA Jamboree

We camped on the cliffs overlooking Omaha Beach. It was so beautiful here. Our tents were packed into each site like sardines. There were row after row after row of tents throughout the camp. 4200 people were there for the Jamboree. There were BSA troops from all over Europe; Norway, England, Germany, Switzerland, France, and Italy. We also saw one troop from Maryland and one from Texas. Plus the French Scouts were also invited. We had a wonderful time!

On to France and the Boy Scout Jamboree

Here are the boys on their way to their first Boy Scout Jamboree! Henry is eating his french croissant at a french rest stop. Europe is interesting...the boys bathroom was getting cleaned so everyone lined up for the girls. At first it was weird, but then a mom said, "You share a bathroom at home, right?" Then it didn't seem so weird. Good thing...it was like that the rest of our time in France!

Easter Sunday

Easter 2014

Easter Sunday. Dustin wanted to get a nice photo after church. I guess that was asking too much. We told Henry he would regret these photos one day. Now that they are on the internet those chances have significantly increased...

Spring Break...Beach Time

April  9, 2014

After the zoo, we drove over to the beach. The kids had a lot of fun looking for tiny seashells...they are everywhere! I brought two kitchen strainers and the kids spent most of their time filling them with sand and then rinsing the water our. Essentially they were "panning" for sea shells. They are so pretty and tiny! This beach lies along the Adriatic Sea. It was much warmer than I thought it would be. I cannot wait for summer when it warms up even more!!

Spring Break...Parco Zoo Punta Verde

April 9, 2014

Spring Break!
We spent the day with the Hoyt Family at the zoo in Lignano. It's a perfect little zoo. It's just the right size to enjoy in half a day so the kiddos didn't get too tired and we got to see everything. We bought season passes so we can go again when we go camping on Memorial Day and then anytime in the summer. It was a beautiful day!

Bike Lessons

April 7, 2014

We realized when we left the Yaupon Berry house that we had never taught Jenna how to ride a 2 wheeler. Way to go, right? So we spent last summer in the apartment with no bikes, then spent a cold winter inside after we arrived in Italy. Spring is here and Jenna asked if we could teach her how to ride her bike. Her bike currently doesn't have training wheels and the BX doesn't have any. Jeff offered to help her learn with out them. So he and Jenna spent the afternoon falling down. :) She had a great attitude about it! Thank goodness I am headed to pick up her training wheels this week. Our Italian neighbor was shocked she didn't know how to ride yet. He was worried his three year old was falling behind!!! But then, everyone rides bikes here in Italy.
