Breaking a record ain't always a good thing...

Here's Henry with an icicle off the house. I still don't know if that's a good idea or not.

Hen took this photo of the backyard. By the way, that's a 4' fence, not a 2' fence!

This is Henry trudging through the snow after school. That's our front porch and no, I don't feel like shoveling it.

Okay, so I really don't have anything nice to say today. I've learned that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all so I will let the local weather report do the talking for me...
"We set a new record here in Great Falls! During the three day period between April 27th and April 29th, 25.4 inches of snow fell in Great Falls."

(and the cute little weather girl makes it sound sooooooooooo wonderful! blah, blah, blah!)

My Latest Project

Since I have been pregnant I haven't had the energy to sew or craft very much. Now that I am well into the second trimester I am finding the inspiration to tackle a few projects. I started this dress for Jenna last Saturday but right in the middle of gathering the sleeves my sewing machine went on the fritz and I had to take it in to be fixed. I got it back yesterday and finished this up today. She wasn't all that cooperative for the photos- lots of jumping up and down in excitement that I am sewing again, I'm sure, so the photo is a silly one. She's still the cutest girl I know, though! I've got another project all lined up- capris and a matching top. They are going to be just smashing. After that I am going to use some of my stash (a whole chest of drawers full!) to make her some summer shorts. Shorts at the store are just too short and the Children's Place had t-shirts for less that $4 a piece including the shipping so I just bought several colors to go with the shorts I plan to make. I think she'll be happy- I've got Strawberry Shortcake, Ariel, and Care Bears fabric down there! Wish me luck!

Another Day at the Lake

Here's Dustin with today's catch. No, he can't go tomorrow!

The ones that didn't get away!

Here are Dustin and Henry with the fish they caught this week at Holter Lake! Dustin is out again today with some friends from work. He may come home with some more big ones, he may not. Either way, it's a beautiful day outside and I'm sure he's having a great time!

HAPPY EASTER 2009!

This was the only shot I got today as we headed off to church this beautiful Easter Sunday. I hope you all enjoyed this most sacred of Sabbath Days. He is Risen!

Fishing with Dad and Jake

Dustin and the boys have been doing A LOT of fishing lately! They went again last night after Dustin got off of work. It's been so nice out and they've been having tons of fun. They haven't caught much but that hasn't slowed them down a bit. I heard rumours of snow in the forecast again so I am glad they've been enjoying every drop of sunshine we've had!

Our Saturday Easter Activities

So, I bet you didn't know that a few of life's toughest lessons could be learned at a city sponsored Easter Egg Hunt, did you? Well, just ask my boys about it and they'll tell you how they learned about greed, selfishness, and disappointment all in about 3 minutes at Gibson Park in downtown Great Falls. The radio announced the egg hunt and I looked it up online. It was supposed to be at Gibson Park, an enormous park near downtown and they planned on putting out over 4,000 eggs. It's sounded like fun. I had visions of us going around the park and finding eggs here or there. No. Instead of my lovely vision of Easter happiness, they had all 4,00o eggs in a police taped area about the size of my back yard. I kid you not. It was just packed with people and I was in fear the whole time that I would lose sight of one of my little ones. In all our family got one egg. It was total chaos. I was shocked. Even the announcer doing the countdown said, "Don't push or worry folks. There are plenty of eggs for everyone." That would have been true had there not been so many parents who were, in my opinion, simply too cheap to run to Walmart to buy their kids some candy so they got as much as they could here. It was the parents grabbing, not the kids. One kid I saw had a huge basket FULL and was walking happily over to a tree to open them up. My kids were so sad. Henry held it together for a long time while I talked to them about what had happened but then the poor thing's eyes welled up with big crocodile tears. He even quoted the announcer saying there'd be enough for everyone. Most families walked away with nothing while a handfull took all the spoils. We had a good talk with our kids about it, about how things don't always go how you plan and that there are people out there who are greedy, and that you have to stay positive. I only saw one mom share with another family even though so many were saying aloud that they got nothing. Needless to say, we will not be attending any City sponsored egg hunts- EVER! The only good thing about is was whoever filled the one egg we did manage to get into our basket put 4 tootsie rolls in it so we all got a treat! I promised the kids I would hide eggs at home and they had a great time really having to hunt for some of them- even finding some later on in the afternoon. We also dyed eggs and they turned out just lovely. It was definitely a learning experience for all of us.

Remember that "pretty good trade"?

Check out this link if you don't remember....http://douberlyfamily.blogspot.com/2009/01/pretty-good-trade.html
Well, Dustin just sold that Jetta he traded for a gun tonight for $1200! That rocks! Now Dustin has some spending cash to put into the truck. Another pat on the back for Dustin!

The Douberly house is safe, folks!

What have we to fear with...a firefighter,

Spiderman,
and Buzz Lightyear on the job?

It's beautiful outside! I hope Spring is here to stay! We topped 65F today and it feels great!

Some photos of Jenna Mae

Jenna fell asleep just like this (on dad's lap) during her bedtime story. I thought she looked pretty cute!

Here is the princess at the Easter Egg Hunt at the church.

I think I saved the best photo for last. She is just so stinkin' adorable!

Hi all! There's not a whole lot going on around here. April is going to be a busy month for us but nothing on the calendar is all that exciting. Here are just a few photos of Jenna from the last couple of weeks or so. Enjoy!
