A moment to brag about Henry...

In Henry's second grade class they can earn play money over the course of the week for things like staying on task, turning in homework, etc. At the end of the week they get to spend their money at the teacher's store. The store is stocked with stuff donated by parents. Well, yesterday Henry came home with a My Little Pony for Jenna that he had bought for her at the teacher store. It was so sweet of him to think of Jenna instead of himself. It's nice when your kids do things that you hope you're teaching them! We were very pleased with Henry's selflessness and thoughtfulness. He is such a great big brother! Way to go, Henry!

Are we crazy?

So, I had another appointment with the midwife today. I haven't seen her in over 2 weeks and we've got less than 2 weeks until our due date. I asked her about being induced which is something I've never asked before. Usually I am the "let nature take it's course" kinda girl but our life is getting pretty crazy with Dustin preparing for his deployment in about a month. She said she'd check the schedule and just like that we're having a baby on Tuesday! I've never got to plan things before. It's making me quite nervous, especially when we're dealing with evil pitocin but it's also nice to have a deadline. There is still lots to do but we'll just do our best and the rest will have to deal. So 9-29-09 is the date. We'll keep you posted as we get closer. Wish me luck!

Jenna's Happy Birthday!

Jenna turned three yesterday and is definitely becoming my little girl instead of my little baby. Wow! She is such a wonderful part of our family. With the boys now in school she has become my little sidekick. Shopping is so easy with just her! I can't imagine our family without her. I am hopeful that we can make a smooth transition with the new baby so that Miss Jenna will still know she is my little princess. Her birthday was a fun one. Dustin took her out shopping in the afternoon so that when the boys got home they could help me get things ready. We got all the cupcakes done and the gifts laid out and waited for them but had to postpone our big surprise since she fell asleep on the way home. She woke up in the early evening and got to open her presents. The dollhouse (the rest of the furniture arrived today) was a super hit! After presents she chose to have dinner at, where else? McDonalds. Then it was home for cupcakes and icecream before heading off to bed. We hope she has a great time being three. It's such a fun age!
p.s. Henry is playing I Spy in the first photo. Can you find him? What a weirdy!

Are You Ready for Some Football?

Here are the boys at their first football game of the season. Dustin is their Head Coach and has a pretty big job on his hands! The boys did a great job and had lots of fun. The season goes through the end of the month and I am hoping, just hoping, that the weather holds out! I'll try to get some good photos of boys in action on Thursday. It's gonna be a fun season.

Don't worry, Mom.

Setting the scene: It's Friday afternoon. Mom is on her way out the door for a pedicure (yeah!). Dad has just gotten home from work and is semi-snoozing on the couch. Jenna is reading books in the living room. Boys are not yet home from school.

Mom (to Jenna): Ok, sweetie. I'm gonna run out for an appointment. I'll be back soon. Love you.

Jenna (to Mom very matter-of-factly): I'll watch Dad.

Could she be any cuter?

Camping at Holter Lake

Last weekend we rented a pop-up trailer from Outdoor Rec and headed for a weekend at the lake. This was my last campout for a while as I don't really like hurrying to the pit potty in socks at all hours of the night! Other than that I did have a great time and the kids, as usual, had a total blast. We also rented the little blue kayak you're seeing in all the photos which was the hit of the weekend. The weather was better than perfect and they must have sprayed for mosquitos because we sat out late visiting each night without a care in the world. The kids loved sleeping in the trailer although it was a little small for our family of five. We brought bikes and scooters and the kids just played and played and played. On Saturday night, our friends the Clarks surprised us and joined us for dinner and yummy s'mores. We had a great time visiting around the fire. It was a nice relaxing end to their first week of school. Speaking of which, is going great for both the boys and Mom and Jenna are getting lots done with them away. We are down to just about a month until baby's arrival. We aren't nearly ready. Hopefully, she will come on time and give us the whole month to prepare. At least her room, all the 0-3 months clothes, and at least a month to 6 weeks worth of diapers and wipes are ready for her. She just can't get home from the hospital because her new car seat is still in the box in the garage. It's on the to-do list at least. I'm sure whatever we do get done will be good enough. I just have high hopes!
